Are you looking for how to make an EASY homemade strawberry lemonade recipe? This recipe is simple, only 4 ingredients and perfect for Summer! Something cool and refreshing is always needed during the warm months and this recipe is the perfect fix. Enjoy the perfect balance of tart, sweet and refreshing. You won’t want to go back to artificial lemonade after you make this!

The best part about this recipe is that it’s easy to make and the perfect activity to do with kids who need something to cure their Summer boredom. It also makes for a great base minus the strawberries for other flavors, spiked (add lemon flavored vodka), popsicles – to name a few.

I fell in love with this easy recipe and think you will too! I have been wanting to help my kids create a lemonade stand for years and this recipe was the beginning of getting that plan in action.

Oriental Chicken Salad Ingredients:

2 pounds of chicken tenders

2 cups of flour

1 Tablespoon of Baking Soda

Garlic salt

Seasoned pepper

1 egg

1 cup of milk

2 heads of romaine lettuce

1/2 small head of green cabbage

1/2 small head of purple cabbage

2 Carrots – shredded

2 Green onions – cleaned and sliced

1/2 cup of sliced almonds

1 cup of Chow Mein noodles

Oriental Salad Dressing:

1 cup of miracle whip – OR mayonnaise (if you want it less tangy)

1/4 cup of rice wine vinegar

2 Tablespoons of oil

2 Tablespoons of honey (plus a little more if you prefer the dressing sweeter)

Oriental Chicken Salad Preparation:

1. In a medium bowl, add the flour and baking soda, and stir well to blend. In another bowl, add the egg, and milk, and whisk together until completely blended. Turn on the deep fryer (I used the Fry Daddy – Grand-Daddy Deep Fryer) and heat the oil, according to deep fryer directions.

2. Sprinkle the chicken with garlic salt and seasoned pepper, and dredge chicken in flour, then dip in egg mixture, and back in flour. When oil is heated, drop chicken a few strips at a time, and fry for 10-12 minutes, or until Golden Brown, and completely cooked. Repeat until all chicken is fried. Remove from fryer, to paper towels to drain.

3. Chop the green cabbage, the purple cabbage, and the romaine lettuce, and rinse/wash at least 2 times in a large bowl, and drain in a colander, or place in the salad spinner, and spin several times to drain water from lettuce/cabbage. Peel the carrots, and shred on a grater. Clean the green onions, and slice into thin slices. Place all chopped/sliced vegetables in the refrigerator.

4. In a cruet, or dressing bottle, add the Miracle Whip, rice wine vinegar, oil, and honey, and shake well to blend. Place in the refrigerator.

5. When ready to serve the salad, place the fried chicken on a cutting board, and slice into bite size pieces. In a large salad bowl, place the lettuce, green cabbage, purple cabbage, carrots, sliced almonds, and toss altogether to mix. Drizzle the dressing over the oriental salad, and toss to blend. Place salad on dinner plates, and top with chow mein noodles, sliced green onions, and several slices of fried chicken. Serve, and Enjoy!

Tips for making ahead and storage:

Storing salad: This salad is best enjoyed the day you made it but if you want to store it, its good for up to 3 days. I place the salad, chicken and noodles and dressing in 4 separate air tight containers to help preserve all the textures and flavors for enjoying later.

Making salad ahead: Just as described above, you can prepare all the different components to enjoy the salad later for dinner or possibly a gathering.

Ingredients for Dutch Oven Chili:

2 cans of beans your choice ( I like kidney beans, navy beans and chickpeas)

1 pound of lean ground beef

1/4 cup of diced onion (I didn’t have any in the house the night I made this so I threw in some salsa that had onion in it)

1/4 cup diced tomatoes

1 packet of chili seasoning mix, pinch or salt and garlic salt

1 Tbsp minced garlic

Here is how to make it:

Cook your ground beef in a skillet until browned.

Add in the cans of beans with the liquid and ALL the other ingredients. Stir and let simmer on low for 15-30 min with lid on – stir every so often.

Serve with cheese and sliced jalapeños and a side of corn bread. (We didn’t do anything fancy just a boxed cornbread and it was still yummy with butter and honey on the side).

Ingredients For the Pumpkin Bread Crust:

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups of sugar

2 heaping Tablespoons of brown sugar

2 1/4 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of baking powder

1 teaspoon of baking soda

1 teaspoon of Cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon of allspice

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1 Tablespoon of Orange zest

1 1/2 cups of canned pumpkin

1/2 cup of oil (or melted butter)

1/3 cup of heavy cream

1 teaspoon of vanilla
OPTIONAL –

1/2 cup of chopped nuts

1/2 cup of golden raisins

Ingredients for the Cheesecake:

5 – 8 ounce packages of cream cheese – softened

3/4 cup of heavy cream

1 Tablespoon of Vanilla

2 – 3 cups of powdered sugar

Pinch of salt

Here is how to make it:

1.In a large mixing bowl, add the eggs, and the sugar, and cream together until light and fluffy. Add the brown sugar, orange zest, canned pumpkin, oil, and vanilla and blend well.

2. In the middle/on top of the pumpkin/egg mixture, add the flour baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice and salt. Blend the dry ingredients together right on top of the pumpkin mixture, and then blend the flour and spices into the pumpkin mixture until well blended. Add nuts and raisins at this time, if desired and blend into the batter. Set mixture aside.

3. Place parchment paper in the bottom of a 9 inch Spring-form pan. Fill the bottom of the pan with the batter, about an inch deep. Butter the bottom and sides of a loaf pan, and flour the pan, and tap out any excess flour. Pour the remaining batter in the loaf pan. Place the Spring-form pan, and the loaf pain in the oven at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. (The Spring-form pan may be done before the loaf pan, so watch them closely). Once the pumpkin bread crust is done (and the loaf) remove from oven to a wire rack to cool.

4. While the crust is cooling, make the cheesecake filling. In the mixing bowl of a standing mixer, place the 5 packages of softened cream cheese, and about 1/2 of the heavy cream, and blend until smooth, stopping the mixer to scrape down the sides of the bowl, and blending until creamy.

5. Add the vanilla, and pinch of salt, and blend well. Add the powdered sugar, a little at a time with a little of the cream, alternating between additions, and blending well between additions. Blend until all ingredients are smooth and creamy. Place the mixing bowl with the cheesecake filling in the refrigerator.

6. When the crust is cool, remove the cheesecake filling from the refrigerator, and pour into the Spring-form pan on top of the bumpkin bread crust, smoothing the cheesecake with a spatula.

7. Place the cheesecake in the freezer, and allow to chill and set overnight. When ready to serve, crumble the pumpkin bread from the loaf pan on top of the cheesecake, and then remove the outside of the Spring-form pan.Cut in pieces, and serve immediately.

This post is sponsored by McCormick® but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

The holiday season is upon us! Family holiday traditions and recipes are at the core of what this season is about to families across the globe. Today I want to take the time to reflect AND inspire you with ideas and recipes you want to INCLUDE for your family this holiday season.

I have been blogging for 5 years now. I started as someone not very skilled in cooking, but through the years of cooking and falling in love with food, recipes and creating delicious things for my family to eat (as I was blogging) I have become well versed in using one of my favorite products – McCormick® seasonings and spices.

For decades upon decades, McCormick® has been passionate about flavor, and has been striving to create flavor experiences that make every meal and moment more delicious and enjoyable! If you look in your cupboard now I will bet with certainty you have some of their spices- whether it’s as simple as sage or as delicious as apple pie spice – you have something.

Holiday time is on the way and these spices and seasonings make it into our homes, traditions and memories and serve as a great reminder to the family traditions and recipes we hold dear to our hearts.

Before I get into all the fun family tradition and deliciousness I must give a shout out to Walmart! It has been a go-to place for our groceries for years – especially with my blogging through the years BUT even more so because it serves as an amazing ONE STOP SHOP. I am able to find the spices I need simply every time!

Here are 6 family traditions we love to do this time of year:

Intentional gratitude: We try to make gratitude a main focus starting in November. It is a great time to focus on thankfulness. We do this with fun activities with the kids like going on a scavenger hunt and also by reflecting on gratitude with the kids as we start our day.

Giving to others: Donations and finding a family in need feels SO good and it models and reminds our kids what this season is especially about-loving others.

Thanksgiving: The turkey, stuffing, cranberries and all the fixings; the cozy nights watching movies as a family; my mom’s pumpkin pie – the list goes on. The nostalgia and memories around what is familiar is a beautiful tradition we look forward to year after year. The slowing down and being restful, thankful and present with the ones we love.

Making Gingerbread houses as a family: I have been making these since I can remember with my family and now my kids enjoy the same fun. We enjoy the outing of going and picking out the candy then an evening of getting creative while nibbling our masterpieces.

Sight seeing lights: We love driving around town in the Winter listening to our favorite music while looking at all the beautiful lights voting on which ones we like best.

Baking: The simple act of baking together, listening to music and singing while burning our favorite pine smelling candles is another simple yet special tradition we do every year.

Ok, ok…on to the delicious recipes you don’t want to miss! Pumpkin pie is something, once November starts it may be breakfast, a snack or the perfect bedtime treat.
