Healthy eating can be a challenge. As a Registered Dietitian, one of my main goals is to encourage others to boost their antioxidant intake for health promotion. As a mom, I understand that making healthy eating fun is the key to success with children…and heck…why not with ourselves as well!
Thanks to Birds Eye Flavor Full veggies, that mesh unexpected but delicious flavor with common vegetables we need to eat MORE of, I was inspired to create a fun concept (game) with my kids that was an absolute hit! We played “who can make the best veggie and fruit face”! My kids had fun and genuinely gobbled up the WHOLE bag of (quick microwavable steamed) broccoli.
Ingredients for “Make a Face” Game
1 bag of Birds Eye Flavor Full Ranch Broccoli
Shredded cheese
Diced olives
Sliced apples and oranges
Ranch dressing (optional dipping)
I set all the ingredients in front of my kids with a face I made as a guide. They found this so fun! To my surprise they ate the whole bag. This is not the norm that my kids would eat healthy foods with such ease! Not only was this a fun activity with yummy food but it also offered such a stress relief as a mom! One less healthy food to beg and plead over is A WIN in my book!
