This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #TeaProudly #CollectiveBias

I love winter for all its opportunities for coziness and memory making with loved ones. This winter has been especially long thus it motivated me to create something new and fun. I have always wanted to have a tea and snack cart that is inviting to guests and fun for my family to enjoy. During these cold winter months what sounds better than a tea cart makeover with strawberry chai tea scones?!

I have been an avid tea drinker for much of my life. I love sharing a few cups of tea with a friend over good conversation, a cup of Cozy Chamomile or Vanilla Chai with a good book or just a delicious beverage such as Green Tea with a meal or to start my day. Bigelow Tea has so many varieties and makes to Tea Proudly simple. I am a knitter in the winter and tea is an essential part of that hobby. I will share more later, but for now I can’t wait to get started with my project and share my yummy recipes.

Let’s start with the tea cart makover.

The first thing I did was start with a vintage cart I found at a local vintage shop. I found my cart already white and loved that so I did not change a thing. You could use chalk paint or even spray paint to change the color of your cart you find. I am going for a simple, clean, crisp yet cozy feel for my cart.

After dusting it off I placed doilies I found at a thrift store as a mat for each shelf. I think this adds texture to the decor piece. You could also use decorative scrap book paper as mats on each shelf as well.

Through the years I have collected mismatching cups, saucers, tea pots and such from thrift and vintage stores. Often I pay a few cents to a few dollars a piece that makes for fun projects such as this. (The nice thing if you have little ones in the home is if something breaks it wasn’t expensive to begin with.) I did intentionally focus on white items with a few of my other favorite colors for this tea cart makeover.

Generally when decorating using a few different colors, textures and sizes in decor objects work nicely when you are arranging things. Odd numbers of cups, saucers ect are also generally more visually appealing.

Once you have collected your dishes and cups, arrange them as you see fit. My tall pieces used on my tea cart are homemade stands.

I simply super- glued glass ice cream cups to saucers to create a double tier treat holder. In my case, for my delicious homemade Strawberry Chai Tea Scones.

I used a vintage black metal lunch pail as the perfect holder for all my Bigelow Tea collections. Tea proudly, my friends, with creativity!

Finishing touches are always important. To create a cozy touch I cut triangles out of an old sweater and hot clued it to ribbon to make a simple banner to adorn the front of my tea cart.

Now for the delicious treats to complement your tea! I have been wanting to make scones for a very long time. This recipe came from my love of strawberries and chai tea spices. I hope you love it!

Instructions

Preheat oven to 425° F.

Cut butter stick into ¼-inch pieces then return it to the fridge to keep it cold until needed.

Mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt into a large wide bowl. Mix to combine.

4. Add butter to the dry ingredients and toss it to coat with flour. Working quickly with clean fingers cut butter into the flour mixture. The end result should be lumpy.

5. Mix strawberries and preserves in separate bowl.

6. Add fresh strawberries and preserves to the mixture and toss to coat.

7. Drizzle the heavy whipping cream evenly over the mixture. Toss with a fork until the dough starts to form together in clumps. Knead the mixture together in the bowl until it comes together in a ball. Do not over work the dough.

8. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and then place dough on cooking sheet into 8 small squares about 1/2-3/4 inch thick.

9. Use a knife to divide each square in half diagonally to make 16 small triangles.

10. Separate the scones so there is room to spread. Bake until pale golden, about 12 to 15 minutes.

11. To prepare the glaze, combine lemon juice, 1 cup confectioners’ sugar and chai tea condensed liquid in a small bowl. Whisk to combine. Add sugar slowly to allow yourself the ability to create a glaze to the consistency of your liking.

12. Allow scones to cool 5-10 minutes before glazing. Serve warm with a cozy cup of Bigelow Tea.
